Prostatype gives you a more accurate answer
Determining the prognosis for prostate cancer is like trying to put a puzzle together without all the pieces. Experienced doctors can get very far when it comes to giving the right diagnosis and prognosis, but in many cases it is difficult to determine with certainty how dangerous a cancer is and which possible treatments are best.
Oftentimes treatment is not necessary at all, and it’s sufficient with regular healthcare visits/check ups to ensure the cancer hasn’t developed in a way that would make treatment necessary. Some patients are unnecessarily operated, and in a number of cases aggressive prostate cancer which should be treated is missed.
Prostatype gives new prerequisites for reaching a clearer answer. Through gene analysis, the patient and doctor receive a measure indicating how aggressive or non-aggressive the cancer is. It provides a better basis when faced with the often difficult treatment decision.
Prostatype provides the patient and doctor with supplementary information prior to making a decision on whether or not treatment is necessary.
Prostatype’s unique system takes the cancer’s genetic fingerprint by measuring information from cancer stem cell genes in the tissue sample (the biopsy) which has already been taken in connection with the diagnosis. This is combined with other information from the diagnosis (PSA test, Gleason score, etc.), and a so called P-score is calculated. A P-score provides a measure of how aggressive or non-aggressive the cancer is, which eases the choice of optimal treatment.
Prostatype gives a value (P-score) of how aggressive the cancer is..
The result is an important piece of the puzzle and a valuable basis for doctor and patient in the conversation on how to proceed.
Background
Prostatype was developed by a research group from The Karolinska Institute and is manufactured and sold by Prostatype Genomics.

Prostatype is available to patients and treating urologists as a supplementary decision-making basis for the question of whether or not to treat prostate cancer.
It is not necessary to carry out a new tissue sample when using the already existing sample that was used to diagnose prostate cancer.
As a treating urologist, you can easily order Prostatype.

The Prostatype test system is delivered in a kit format (adapted to qPCR platform LightCycler480 I and II) and can be performed in most laboratories. The test can also be carried out at Prostatype Genomics’ IVO certified laboratory in Stockholm. Prostatype is CE marked. All production of Prostatype is done in accordance with the GMP standard. Prostatype Genomics is ISO certified according to the ISO 13485 standard.
Prostatype has been validated clinically and in several studies, conducted and ongoing. Prostatype has been shown to improve the ability to predict survival and the best choice of treatment method for individual patients through the analysis of patients’ genes, which is compared with data from similar patient cases in the Prostatype Genomics CPMA database.

What is included when I buy the Prostatype test?
When you have filled in the form and purchased the test, we request your existing tissue sample.
This is then analyzed in our test lab. The result of the test consists of P-score, which shows how aggressive your cancer is.
We book an appointment where you and one of the experienced urologists who work with us go through your results together with you and provide an overall assessment of your prognosis and guidance in the choice of treatment.
You will receive a signed copy of the P-score report that you can take with you to your attending Urologist for further discussion of treatment options.

This is how it works:

We will contact you
Once we have received your contact information, we will contact you and collect the information we need to provide free advice.

We will handle your case
If you decide to take the test, we will create a case and send for your biopsy. You do not need to do a new biopsy, we will send for your previous tissue sample.

You get a medical opinion
We perform the test in our lab. An experienced urologist will then give a statement, an overall assessment of your prognosis and a guide when choosing treatment.
